John and Laurie Hagarman, the founders of Low Country Pet Specialties created the MOBOWL brand out of love for Kayla, their beautiful Border Collie. They say that necessity is the mother of invention and that was in fact true for John and Laurie. Spending lots of time at the beach with Kayla, they would frequently forget to bring a water bowl to the beach. When they remembered they had to lug a bulky bowl that was too cumbersome, inconvenient for travel and not very safe for use as the heat from the sun could easily cause leaching of harmful chemicals into the water and were not dishwasher safe. John…having a strong background in the silicone mold industry set out to create a product that would provide convenience for travel with pets, and a clean product that would produce minimum waste in manufacturing and eliminate harmful chemicals in the process. With John’s understanding of medical grade silicone and the injection mold industry he created this amazing product that is clean and green. Laurie has a strong administrative background as well as a solid understanding of sales and marketing. She provided the necessary components to launch one of the most innovative products to hit the pet industry. John and Laurie engaged their children to help create the name of the product and settled on MOBOWL a Mobile Bowl. Unfortunately, John became ill and their dream of seeing the MOBOWL brand take off were sidelined and thus they began to look for someone that would purchase the company that shared their vision to bring the brand forward to the next level.

This is where I come in…my journey in this process started with my own health issues in early 2024. I thought I was having a heart attack and was admitted to the hospital for a week.

My major cardiac makers were fine, but my Creatine Kinase blood marker was 13,000 well above the normal 0-100 range. After months of seeing various specialists, nothing was found, and it was chalked up as an anomaly. This was the first time in my entire adult life that I spent 5 days in bed resting and lots of time to think. I decided that once this condition was under control or healed, that I would take a chance on myself. I was the Director of the commercial business in N. America for a startup company out of Santa Clara, CA focused on the Immuno-Oncology space and was ready for a change. An amazing product, but we were not hitting our revenue goals for various reasons I felt I was ready for a major change. Just as I was completing my due diligence to acquire Low Country Pet Specialties, I was downsized. Talk about timing… I knew I had a solid background in medical distribution, clinical diagnostics and life science sales and also spent many years in a few commercial leadership roles at some of the largest well known global organizations, I believe I am well equipped to bring Low Country Pet Specialties and MOWBOWL to the next level.

I fell in love with the Low Country Pet Specialties company brand image and the MOBOWL product. Immediately I knew that this was a company that would allow me to leverage my background in distribution and manufacturing to bring the product to the global market.

After meeting John and Laurie, we had an instant connection, and I was excited to work with them to complete the acquisition of the business. Their flexibility to help with the process was amazing and made the decision very easy. Holding patents in the United States, Europe and Brazil, Low Country Pet Specialties is in great position to deliver an amazing product to the global market. My love for all animals, and my history of managing commercial businesses with significant revenue provides me with a unique ability to take Low Country Pet Specialties to the next level. I am committed to developing even safer and more convenient products in the future and look forward to engaging with many great people and organizations that deliver quality services and support to the pet industry.
